[...] Komedia in Bath have a programme of Sing and Dance along events lined up for 2010 and we sent the Hen Party Direct team along to join in the fun at Sing along Grease to see what all the fuss was about. So, the girls donned their pencil skirts and scarves, put on the shades and strutted on over. We all love a Singalong, don’t we? It’s the perfect compromise between the total exposure of karaoke and a simple night out at the flicks. Getting dressed up is a crucial aspect of the hen party fun and a Singalong not only provides you with a theme, but also a chance to sing and dance. Hosted by the hilarious Barbara Nice, it was clear from the start this was going to be a night full of fun and laughter. As soon as the title music came on and the opening credits started to roll, you could sense the excitement…we were all waiting for our first glimpse of the young John Travolta. Of course, we didn’t have the wait long and with Barbara’s commentary whipping up the crowd everyone quickly shed their inhibitions and started to cheer and heckle. From the opening bars of ‘Summer Dreams’ the crowd was on its feet singing along and the night was truly underway. If you haven’t been to a Singalong before, it’s basically a screening of a film (one with music of course) with subtitles, so you can sing along karaoke-style. There are also a lot of laughs from the subtle bits of dialogue you don’t always pick up without the subtitles, especially when you have a host commenting throughout. At Komedia, Bath, the whole experience is enhanced by the fabulous venue – a former Vaudeville Theatre – and the delicious food on offer from River Cottage Canteen, not to mention the great value Fizz starting at £15.
