Following the success of Shoe Baby – the magical puppet show that took the UK by storm last year – Long Nose Puppets are back at Komedia, presenting their brand new and exciting show: Flyaway Katie!

‘one of the best pieces of theatre that I’ve yet encountered.’ The Times (on Shoe Baby)

Katie is all alone and feeling grey. The birds in the picture on her wall look so colourful – if only Katie could be as bright as them, who knows what might happen…? An inspiring flight of fancy about the power of imagination, Flyaway Katie is adapted from the book published by Walker Books. The music is written by talented musician Tom Gray, of the award winning band Gomez.

‘Magical and beautiful’ The Guardian (on Shoe Baby)

Long Nose Puppets is an exciting new company set up by Polly Dunbar, who is an author/illustrator, and Katherine Morton, a puppeteer/illustrator. Katherine and Polly met at Brighton University where they studied illustration and often worked together creating characters and stories. They make all the puppets themselves out of anything and everything: latex, wood, found objects and all things sparkly! Their first show, Shoe Baby, was awarded Best Children’s show of Brighton Festival 2006, and toured the country, even dropping into No.11 Downing Street as part of Gordon Brown’s annual children’s Christmas Party.

Suitable for 2 – 4 year olds, Flyaway Katie will be performed in the Komedia Studio Bar, which will be transformed into a beautiful grotto for this special Christmas treat!
