Bath Festivals, Komedia & Funnel Music Presents:
Party in the City
Komedia is proud to take part in Bath’s biggest night of free entertainment, and will be bringing top notch music and dance performances to both the Main Auditorium & Arts Cafe Stages from 6pm – late.
The main stage:
Bite The Buffalo
Bite the Buffalo are back with their third studio album ‘Bad Habits’ and the brother duo are set to return to Komedia for their biggest show to date at Party in the City. Join the brothers Goneos, May 17th for their headline set at 9:30pm.
tHE MAITREE EXPRESS
The Maitree Express are a 7 piece Dub fusion band from Bath. Their unique and soulful sound incorporates flavours of reggae, dub, ska, funk, swing, drum & bass and hip hop.
Make Friends are a dynamic four piece dispensing progressive indie-pop, laid with infectious grooves, big crowd sing-along choruses and ethereal washes of glacial guitar – all driving forward their truly original big-stage festival sound.
Now performing with a live band, 20 year old, Bristol-based singer-songwriter RVBY, is fast becoming one of the most exciting pop talents in the country, having worked alongside Nigel Butler (One Direction, Alesha Dixon) & Ed Seed (guitarist & MD for Dua Lipa) on her debut singles.
Dorothy Coleborn School of Dancing
Bath’s leading professional dance school is based in Englishcombe Lane. Students aged 3-18 years are taught by experienced, fully qualified teachers in purpose built studios.
THE ARTS CAFE STAGE:
Born in Essex, Scott Lavene was raised on ballads, punk and swearing. Through years of trial, tribulation & bewilderment Scott has emerged with a smashing collection of twisted pop songs with nods to Ian Dury, Talking Heads & Father John Misty gaining support from the likes of Steve Lamacq en-route
Hailing from Bristol, Javeon carved his early career via the dance scene featuring on tracks from Julio Bashmore, Le Youth & Cyril Hahn as well as releasing solo material on PMR Records in 2011 & has since become a standout in Bristol’s urban scene with his unique brand of R&Bass.
The evolution of inspirational Hip Hop is in the safe hands of STAY HUNGRY. Their signature style seamlessly combines Alex’s raw vocal style with Theo’s honest and flo-ectic rap. This is prominent throughout, from the dreamlike quality of the post dub-step track ‘Hunting Season’, to the stripped back acoustics of their namesake song `Stay Hungry’.
A regular around the local Open Mic circuit and former student of Bath’s successful School of Rock, Mark performs an eclectic mix of covers from the 80’s, 90’s and today liberally interspersed with his own songs and music.
