SCRIPT BOOT CAMP
The Script Workshop is taking place in 6 sessions from January to June 2019, each on a Sunday 10 am – 4 pm.
Dates are: 6 Jan // 3 Feb // 10 March // 7 April // 12 May // 2 June
The cost of £240 includes all 6 workshop dates.
Claire Miller is an experienced scriptwriter with a background in script editing.
To date she has written eight episodes of BBC’s CASUALTY, including the explosive finale for the show’s 30th anniversary. She has also worked on BBC’s HOLBY CITY. Claire has just completed her fourth episode of THE WORST WITCH as well as an episode of THE DUMPING GROUND for CBBC. Her first original radio drama NOW, WHERE WERE WE? aired on BBC Radio4 in 2017. Claire has had two original ideas optioned by Clerkenwell Films and is currently developing a drama series. With ten years experience as a script editor across soap, comedy, drama and children’s TV, Claire’s credits include STELLA, YOUNG DRACULA, EMMERDALE, CASUALTY and THE BILL.
Week 1: Introductions, The Inciting Incident – start your script with a bang! How to capture your audience’s attention, keep them hooked and deliver on that promise.
Week 2: The Blank Page – creative facilitation and ideas generation. Learn practical examples of how to harness and focus your creativity.
1st Draft Workshop
Week 3: Structure, Structure, Structure – a good idea will fall flat without a good structure, we’ll explore how to make a script’s structure work for you.
Week 4: Character – how to create believable, three-dimensional characters.
Week 5: Dialogue – how to write authentic dialogue and how to tailor this to a specific voice.
Week 6: Tools of the trade – learn how to write industry standard pitch documents and treatments.
Recap, questions, how to move forwards with your draft.
