Jon Pickard, New Worlds (Music of Dreams)
A musical journey exploring the ‘new worlds’ of sound offered by the incredible ‘Harp Guitar’. Drawing from Celtic, Folk, Classical, South & North American and original English Guitar / Harp-Guitar music.
Komedia Bath is proud to have teamed-up with The Bath Fringe to sell tickets for a series of events at various venues around Bath 22 May – 7 June 2020. This event is taking place at the Bath Central United Reformed Church, 7 Argyle Street, BA2 4BA – just next to Great Pulteney Bridge.
“Beautiful, atmospheric….profoundly emotional and spiritual…You want to close your eyes and let the pictures created by the musician take you” The Fine Times Recorder (March 2019)
Multi-genre ‘beyond classical’ guitarist Jon discovered the hidden world of Harp-Guitars 10 years ago and has never looked back since. With infinite variety of design, new musical textures and endless possibilities they offer the perfect mix of familiarity and originality to players and listeners seeking to blend the familiar with unfamiliar brand new musical horizons.
Jon designed this model himself, inspired by similar examples. Closer to the range of a piano than a guitar, it commands a power, resonance and sound palette unmatched by any ordinary guitar and evokes a mesmerising effect for the listener.
There will also be an appearance of Jon’s 23 string Fretless Harp-Guitar – another unique sound (closer to an Arabic Oud) and the only one of its kind in the world.
Harp Guitars are essentially a combination of a harp and a guitar all in one instrument – and they come in infinite variations. There are very few to be heard in the UK, and Jon’s are both recognised as unique creations in the global HG community. Fans of Classical, contemporary Finger-style, Celtic, ambient and artful acoustic guitar music will not want to miss this.
Jon has been a professional guitarist for over 30 years and his videos have been broadcast on Classical Music TV (cable TV channel) in over 150 countries. He has even performed Harp Guitar live on stage at Wembley Arena.
