SPELLBOUND’S ALTERNATIVE 80S NEW YEAR’S EVE
Styling itself ‘The 80s Night For People Who Hate 80s Nights’, Spellbound has become one of Brighton’s best-loved clubs since launching at Komedia eight years ago by delivering the cream of the Alternative side of the 80s, with DJs Simon Price (Stay Beautiful/Purple Stardust) and Jayney BlamBlam playing post-punk, goth, new romantic, indie, ska etc (think Siouxsie, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Smiths, Cramps, New Order, Bunnymen, The Cult, PiL, Soft Cell, Human League, Joy Division, Specials, Bauhaus, The Jam, Talking Heads, Sisters Of Mercy etc) for a wonderfully mixed audience of people who remember it first time round and young ‘uns discovering it afresh, with period-relevant visuals on the video projector, a cheap deal on Snakebite & Black, plus the legendary Underpants Song (don’t ask…)
For its Alternative Eighties New Year’s Eve Party, doors open at 10pm, and after the big midnight countdown, we go right through to 3.00am. Further details to be announced in due course, but one thing we can guarantee is no messing about, absolute Alternative 80s all-killer floor-filler anthems all night!
THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN OUR INTIMATE SPACE – KOMEDIA STUDIO BAR
