TETSUO : THE IRON MAN
From experimental body-horror director Shinya Tsukamoto, ELECTRIC BLUE screens the horrifying and beguiling Tetsuo : The Iron Man (1989). A beloved Japanese cult hit, Tetsuo screeches with the anxiety of urban claustrophobia through imagery that evokes the eerie style of David Lynch’s early cinema, and parodies the capitalist landscape of a disillusioned Tokyo. Tsukamoto takes influence from the extremist gore of Videodrome and the steampunk futurism of Ridley Scott’s Bladerunner in birthing what can only be described as the cyborg masterpiece of independent horror – not one to miss.
The film will be introduced by a series of ghostly shorts from avant-garde influences Takashi Ito, Toshio Matsumoto, David Lynch (& more), all projected in luminous 4k. We hope to see you there !
THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE KOMEDIA STUDIO BAR
