Melting Vinyl are thrilled to welcome The Weather Station back to Brighton following their previously sold-out Brighton show.

Emerging out of Toronto’s vibrant folk scene, Lindeman debuted a moody, introspective sound with her independently released East EP in 2008. Her LP The Line followed in 2009, expanding on an earthy, lyrical style, driven by her distinctive fingerpicked guitar and banjo parts. The Weather Station’s expansive catalogue continued to grow with the release of 2014’s What Am I Going to Do with Everything I Know EP, resulting in signing with North Carolina label Paradise of Bachelors and traveling to Paris to record her third LP, Loyalty. Loyalty (2015) becoming the first Weather Station album to receive both American and European release, and somewhat of a critical breakout album. The follow-up in 2017, an eponymously titled LP, saw an expansion of the Weather Station sound into the more rock-oriented territory. Now in 2021, Lindeman leads us into a brilliant and bold new sonic landscape with Ignorance, out now through Fat Possum and Next Door Records.

Ignorance sees the Toronto songwriter Tamara Lindeman once again remake what The Weather Station sounds like by using the occasion of a new record to create a new sonic landscape, tailor-made to express an emotional idea. Ignorance, Lindeman’s debut for Mississippi label Fat Possum Records, is sensuous, ravishing, as hi fi a record as Lindeman has ever made, breaking into pure pop at moments, at others a dense wilderness of notes; a deeply rhythmic, deeply painful record that feels more urgent, more clear than her work ever has.

Loved the world over by 6 music and many more, see below for praise for TWS:

‘A heartbroken masterpiece.’ – The Guardian

‘Tamara Lindeman’s songwriting has reached stunning new heights.’ – Pitchfork

‘The result is an album that pulses with energy, one that’s not a dancefloor record in the traditional …but one with an insistent groove woven into its 10 delicately emotive songs.’ – NME
