Privacy Notice

How does Komedia collect personal data: Customer data is collected via our ticketing system (Ticketsolve); on-line, in person at the Box Office and over the phone. We also use competition slips (red slips) that are collected at our in-house events and collect emails for the mailing list via our homepage sign up form. We use email tracking to help us carry out effective marketing.

Data that can be collected: Customers: Name, Email, telephone number, address, DoB, interests.

Purpose of Data collection: To provide a service to individuals, e.g. sending them tickets (e-tickets or physical tickets), informing them of show cancellations, special offers, marketing communications via email and targeted advertising (where they have agreed for you to do so).

The Individual’s Rights: Not to give consent, to withdraw consent, to object to automated processing data for direct marketing, including targeted advertising, to request rectification/erasure, submit a Subject Access Request.

Complaints procedure: All individuals have the right to make a complaint, with both Komedia (via their data processor who’s contact details are above) or via the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) 0303 123 1113. Complaints will be responded to within 1 month.

Lawful Basis of Data Processing:

  1. Marketing Data: Komedia only stores marketing data after full ‘opt-in’ consent** is given, the company does not assume consent using pre-ticked boxes or similar devices.
  2. Ticketing Data: Komedia will collect some ticketing data on a Legitimate Interests*** basis, this is only when it would be deemed bothersome to disrupt the individual with consent during a legitimate process when they are unlikely to object. i.e. to gain consent to ask for their card details when they have phoned up to purchase a ticket or consent to collect their address when they are already aware the ticket will be posted to them.

Safeguards: Komedia has sought the advice of our main data holder Ticketsolve and have reviewed our policies accordingly in-line with the GDPR regulations. We have also followed the guidelines of the ICO. All members of staff who collect follow the protocols outlined in Komedia Data Privacy Policy.

Storage: No data is stored or handled outside of the EEA (European Economic Area). Ticketsolve only has EU based servers.

Child data: Komedia does not store the data of Children

Sharing Data: Komedia will only share data with other organisations if the individual gives explicit consent to do so. For example the customer ticks a box to allow Komedia to share their data with the promoter who is running the event. This is very rare.

Data Retention Policy: Ticketing and Marketing Data will be kept for as long as the data is deemed valid with a maximum period of 100 years, or until a request is made by the individual to cease the storage of their data.

Review: This policy was amended 11th May 2018 and will be reviewed annually or whenever any changes are made to Data Protection legislation.
