Flyweight Poetry Night

Waterloo Press and LLL Productions present an evening featuring short sets by three of Brighton’s finest poets and culminating in a performance of FLYWEIGHT, a multimedia production bringing together live spoken word with audio, video and very witty visuals to explore the poetry of boxing.

In the first half, short readings by Anglo-Polish queer poet Maria Jastrzębska, poet and novelist Naomi Foyle and founder of Waterloo Press, Simon Jenner.

In the second half, FLYWEIGHT, written and performed by Maggie Sawkins, whose first stage production, Zones of Avoidance, directed by Mark C. Hewitt, was 2013 winner of the prestigious Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry.  FLYWEIGHT brings together the same creative pairing for this unlikely celebration of female boxing.
