Kate-Lois Elliott: How To Belong Without Joining A Cult

After a sellout run at Edinburgh Fringe, Kate-Lois Elliott brings her award-winning, critically acclaimed debut hour on tour.

Elliott’s family lived in a secretive cult until her mum escaped. One generation later, a teenage Kate finds herself in the clutches of an equally militant operation… just your average group of teenage girls. Because, as it turns out, cults are everywhere – ask anyone with a Tesco Clubcard.

British Writers’ Guild Award nominee, The Times Best Jokes of The Fringe, Edinburgh News Best Jokes of The Fringe, supported by the Keep It Fringe Fund.

Plus support from comedian Dawn Williams.

What people are saying...

Everything was so accessible and with ease, we truly had such a lovely and comfortable time. It means a lot to have such a positive experience at a place we love. The comedy itself was incredible and we were cackling the entire time! This was my first night out of the house in months, thank you so very much for making it so joyful and comfortable. You are all brilliant!!!!!

Please extend my gratitude to all the terrific people at Komedia who contributed to my night flowing smoothly.

We just wanted to thank you all for an amazing show last night. We had a blast performing and working with you all. Thanks also to Taylor and Dylan and wow, we love your security guards. Thanks so much! Hope to see you again sometime 🙂

Thank you for hosting me! It was such a pleasure working with your incredible team. I felt truly looked after. Special shout-out to Steve and Misti on tech—you’re both stars 🧡

Thanks again for having me last week. I was very, very happy… and my first solo show in Brighton! Thrilled we got such a good crowd.

A MASSIVE thank you for making us feel so welcome and for all your support you gave us. Thank you to Steve (our Technician on the night) and Taylor (behind the bar) for being sooo brilliant and helpful. Big thank you to the doorman at Komedia for being so lovely too! 😊

The accessibility at Comic Boom Comedy Club was absolutely brilliant. I had emailed beforehand and your communication about accessibility was great. The staff at the event were also great. I really appreciate how easy it was in a wheelchair as not all venues are so accommodating.

Once again, great fun at the [Komedia Comedy] club! The crowds were great and the staff is second to none. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for having me, it’s always a blast.

Thanks very much for last night. Genuinely one of the nicest spaces I’ve been to, and the whole team was so helpful and kind. We all felt very valued and cared for. It’s an excellent space and crowd, and I’d love to come back any time!

I always enjoy comedy at the Komedia. The venue is perfect for a comedy club – low ceilings and intimate, but also space for a good sized audience.

Another fantastic evening at Komedia’s Comedy Club! … the best way to spend your Friday or Saturday night in Brighton.
