Biscuit of Destiny

A celebratory jamboree chock-full of daft and deft wordplay, community song and a selection of his drawings and cardboard curiosities. Gape in baffled exhilaration as the much loved bespectacled poet lays out a treasury of new and selected potatoes for your enjoyment, drawing on his recently published book ‘A Scarcity of Biscuit’. The collection weaves gentle fictions and fanciful meanderings around the letters of Romantic poet John Keats…

“Keats features quite strongly in the narrative of this show, and it is from him that the biscuit reference comes: he met a woman in Ireland being transported in some kind of kennel who the poet said seemed to be suffering from a “scarcity of biscuit”. There are several of Hegley’s distinctive drawings on slides in the show, including seven elephants, three of which we had to vote on later. It’s a lovely hour of stories, music, poetry and silliness”  British Theatre 4* British Theatre Guide Review

What people are saying...

We were really impressed in how well we were looked after when we attended Michael Akadiri the other day.

Completely exceeded our expectations! We got fantastic seats, the show was brilliant, and the staff went above and beyond with exceptional customer service.

A night of belly laughs guaranteed. It’s a cool venue and a credit to Brighton.

Great night out! Mild emotional damage included, would absolutely risk sitting in the front row again.

Komedia isn’t just a comedy club. It’s the sound of people forgetting everything else for a while and that’s worth showing up for.

Guaranteed good evening out. Easy to find, good selection of food and drinks, great atmosphere.

Refreshing, thought-provoking and always very funny.

It has that reputation of being one of those go-to spots where you’re pretty much guaranteed a fun evening, even if you don’t recognise the comedians on the line-up.

An evening of fun and laughs to share with my family and friends time and time again.

Remembering some great nights with some of my favourite comedians for nearly 30 years!

Mixture of new & more established comedians in a great location, well organised and a fair price.

A lively room full of big laughs, quick wit, and the kind of night out where you forget to check your phone.
