WINNER ‘BEST COMEDY FORMAT’ CHORTLE AWARDS 2024
On the first Sunday of every month, head ‘Down the Hatch’ into our intimate Basement venue, for a night of queer & alternative comedy in Brighton (allies are welcome too!).
Our beloved resident MC is comedian & presenter Lee Peart, who will introduce you the most extraordinary queer stand-ups, character comedians, drag kings & queens, ventriloquists, and other alternative comedy acts.
Previous acts include James Acaster, Suzi Ruffell, Sam Campbell, Joe Black, Robert White, Jayde Adams, Lachlan Werner, Olga Koch, Josh Glanc, Jessica Fostekew, Jordan Brookes, Ania Magliano, Andrew O’Neill, Kate Butch, Jack Rooke, Helen Bauer, Daniel Foxx, Dane Buckley, John-Luke Roberts, Mark Bittlestone, Joe Sutherland, Chris Hall, Elf Lyons, and many more.
Very busy, very famous Irish cabaret star Mark T Cox said: “Genuinely one of the nicest spaces I’ve been to, and the whole team was so helpful and kind. We all felt very valued and cared for. It’s an excellent space and crowd, and I’d love to come back any time!”
With tickets at just £6, it’s a bargain of a comedy night out. So grab your mates, a drink and snack from our delicious menu… and enjoy the show!

OUR CHARITY PARTNER
Our 2026 Charity Partner for Down the Hatch comedy club is… the Allsorts Youth Project!
This local charity listens to, connects, and supports children and young people (under 26 years old) who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, or exploring their identity. By providing youth services, including groups and one-to-one sessions, support for parents and carers of LGBTQ+ children, and training to the wider community, Allsorts makes Sussex safer and more inclusive for LGBT+ people.
By donating to Allsorts, you are supporting LGBTQ+ children, young people, and their families, offering opportunities to build confidence, reduce isolation, and create a sense of belonging.
