Melting Vinyl Present:

The Handsome Family

Following a sold-out gig at the Komedia, we’re very happy that The Handsome Family has chosen to return and with a last-minute show with Melting Vinyl as part of their forthcoming tour to mark the reissue of their landmark album Singing Bones.

Their 2003 album featuring the song ‘Far From Any Road’ from True Detective is now repackaged as a limited-edition, remastered vinyl. It has a repackaged sleeve and comes with the a bonus CD ‘Invisible Bones’ featuring outtakes, demos and live recordings. The Singing Bones reissue is out in May 2026.

Led by husband-and-wife duo Brett and Rennie Sparks, The Handsome Family have long occupied a world of their own, blending alt-country, gothic Americana and desert noir into something both eerie and strangely beautiful. Written after their move to New Mexico, Singing Bones remains one of their defining works: a record steeped in dust, myth and the supernatural.
It also gave the world Far From Any Road – later immortalised as the theme to True Detective – a track that has since racked up hundreds of millions of streams and become a modern cult classic. These shows see the band revisiting that era alongside favourites from their extensive catalogue – intimate, haunting performances that feel tailor-made for seated venues and attentive rooms.

What people are saying...

The team working with us on Saturday were brilliant – special thanks to Steve, our engineer, who was fantastic.

I love the venue and am grateful to you for having me back!

Staff were all very friendly and welcoming… the sound and lighting were brilliant and a great evening was had by all attending.

Great intimate live music venue. Not your usual gig beers, good selection of Lager, Cider and Ale.

I wanted to say a massive thank you for hosting my son and I in the Studio. I was so impressed by the kindness, efficiency, and professionalism of all the team at Komedia. Everything was perfect – the sound, the room, and all of the staff.

It was honestly the best concert experience I’ve had in a long time! Since being chronically ill, I’ve never felt completely welcome at venues. […] Komedia made me feel completely comfortable and confident in myself during the whole show! […] Although I traveled from London, I will most definitely be returning when I can, choosing it over London venues!

Lovely, intimate venue. Great sound system. Perfect for small concerts.

What a superb venue. I have been several times. Always a warm welcome and a safe space to enjoy the artists that are more “left field” than other more mainstream venues.

Cracking little venue, intimate, great acoustics, friendly staff, middle of town, nice beer selection, fair prices. What more could you want?

Great place to see bands. Not too big . Not too small. Excellent views plus TV screens in all areas. Disabled parking in the street behind. Good eateries locally after gig.

Komedia continues to have club nights that suit all ages. It is a brighton institution that should be revered.
