What Goes On: Indiepop-Psych-Fuzz-Jangle

From 60s jangle, garage and pop (Byrds, Stones, Velvets, MC5, Beatles, Stooges, Kinks, Left Banke) to 80s indie and shoegaze (Smiths, Fall, Cure, REM, My Bloody Valentine, Happy Mondays) via alternative 70s (Bowie, Can, Sly Stone, Big Star), What Goes On is a throwback to a classic club night from a time when There She Goes jangled alongside Eight Miles High, sleeves dangled on the dancefloor to This Charming Man, Primal Scream were still all bowl haircuts and polka dots, and Blur had just released their debut single.

Five hours of the best of 65-90 indie club sounds (with the occasional rule-breaking foray to 91/92), with stuff you just don’t hear out and about anymore, like The Wedding Present, The House of Love, Felt, Pale Saints. Ride, Cocteau Twins and Julian Cope. And no Britpop!

What people are saying...

Many thanks for ‘Let The Sun Shine In’ – we had a great night, thank you to the staff who were excellent!

It was such a fantastic night! All the staff involved were so lovely and friendly, they made us feel at ease and were on hand for anything we needed.

I’m having a Madonna day today and it’s bringing back just how EPIC Madonna night was. I think it was the most fun I’ve had in my 30s, and I’m nearly 40.

We came here on the night of Brighton pride and had an amazing time. Lovely, clean venue with really friendly staff and saw it was clearly accessible.

Great place to see bands. Not too big . Not too small. Excellent views plus TV screens in all areas. Disabled parking in the street behind. Good eateries locally after gig.

Komedia continues to have club nights that suit all ages. It is a brighton institution that should be revered.
