We all know that Brighton really comes alive in summer. With the beach literally on Komedia’s doorstep and the Palace Pier attracting all types of holiday-goers, it’s the best place to spend the summer. And with how the Brighton music events programme is looking this year, it’s set to be HOT – and not just from the sun.
There’s so much live music in Brighton this summer that we’ve put together this handy-dandy post for you to refer to. Helping you keep track of everything the music scene in Brighton – and especially at Komedia – have to offer.
Brighton’s Music History
Brighton is often referred to as “London-by-the-Sea”, and our music culture reflects that – especially when it comes to indie, alt-rock, and DIY music. One of our most popular events is The Great Escape Festival, the UK’s leading festival for new music. Turning Brighton into a playground for talent scouts and music lovers alike, with hundreds of up-and-coming artists performing across dozens of venues. This takes place each May, so you’re too late for 2025 – sorry! – but you can always grab your early bird tickets for 2026 here.

Big Brighton Music Events This Summer
Before we dive into what’s happening at Komedia, it’s worth noting that Brighton’s summer music calendar is bursting with major festivals and open-air gigs. Highlights include:
On The Beach (July) – Bringing international acts to Brighton seafront, including dance and indie legends.
Brighton & Hove Pride (August) – The UK’s biggest pride festival, with live performances, DJ sets, and street parties galore. Join local cabaret legend Joe Black for a one-off Komedia Kabarett Club Pride special on Fri 1 Aug and the fabulous Gal Pals for a queer dance party at Komedia on Sat 2 Aug!
Boundary Brighton (September) – Brighton’s biggest dance music festival closes the festival season in style.
Komedia’s Summer Soundtrack
Big festivals are great, don’t get us wrong! But what sets us apart here at Komedia is the diversity of our musical offering in a more intimate setting. Whether you’re craving nostalgia, funky dance moves, hardcore rock, or alternative indie vibes, there’s something for every taste.

Themed Club Nights You’ll Love
Let’s start with the icons – Komedia’s themed music nights are the stuff of legend. Most of these events are on all year round, but they just hit differently during a summer on the coast!
Spellbound
The alternative 80s night for fans of goth, synthpop, and new wave. Expect The Cure, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie – and the perfect excuse to dress the part. Spellbound is one of our regular events here in Brighton, where synthpop is at its peak in popularity!
Alt Anthems
All the biggest and best rock tunes, which you can rock out to until 3 am –almost ‘til sunrise! You’ll find the likes of Linkin Park, Bring Me the Horizon, and My Chemical Romance in this alt rock night.
Queen Rhapsody – Live
Queen Rhapsody faithfully recreates the emotion of a classic Queen concert! The four-piece band delivers powerful vocals, classic rock anthems, and flamboyant showmanship. An absolute must-see for any music buff!
Tslammers 70’s Soul Show
An 8-piece Soul Band paying tribute to some of the finest Soul & Motown artists from the 70s. Some of TSlammers musicians played in the original Soul Touring acts of Lee Dorsey, Fontella Bass, Inez & Charlie Foxx, The Drifters, The Platters, Percy Sledge, plus some that have been forgotten in the mists of time between 1969-1973.
Brighton Mod Weekender
Packed with live music (including the triumphant return of The Rifles), club nights, and New Untouchables DJs, this is the music event on the August Bank Holiday weekend (21-24 August). With daytime events taking place across Brighton, Komedia’s huge wooden dancefloor is perfect for those nighttime Northern Soul and Mod tunes!
A Night Out With Everything Included
Part of Komedia’s charm is that it’s a complete night out. You’re not just coming for a Brighton music event – you’re walking into a full experience. With a well-stocked bar, delicious food options, and a warm, welcoming vibe, it’s the kind of place that turns one drink into a whole evening with old and new friends.
