Steve Knightley & The Winter Yards Band

Following a hugely successful run of shows, Steve Knightley and the Winter Yards Band return in Autumn 2026.Blending poetic songwriting with a cinematic acoustic sound, the band’s ‘folk noir’ style has won over audiences across the UK.

Featuring David Delarre, John Parker and Evan Carson, the show combines songs from the Winter Yards album with powerful new material written on the road – stories of landscape, community and the changing world around us.
Steve Knightley, a highly acclaimed and multi-award-winning singer-songwriter and musician, occupies a prominent position in the folk/acoustic and roots music scene.

Quote from the band:
David Delarre (guitar) ‘Steve’s songs create a landscape, and the band gets to colour it in. It’s a really exciting way to play.’
John Parker (double bass) ‘There’s a real cinematic quality to the music. It can be very intimate one minute and then suddenly open out into something much bigger.’
Evan Carson (percussion)’What I love about this band is the freedom. We’re not just accompanying the songs — we’re shaping the atmosphere of them.’
Steve ‘With the Winter Yards Band, the songs seem to breathe differently – there’s space, atmosphere and a real sense of discovery every night.’

Quotes from elsewhere:
‘Some of the best songs written in the last twenty years’ Mark Radcliffe
‘The gravel-voiced spokesman of the rural poor’ Robin Denselow, The Guardian
‘One of the ‘Great English Bands”  Peter Gabriel

What people are saying...

The team working with us on Saturday were brilliant – special thanks to Steve, our engineer, who was fantastic.

I love the venue and am grateful to you for having me back!

Staff were all very friendly and welcoming… the sound and lighting were brilliant and a great evening was had by all attending.

Great intimate live music venue. Not your usual gig beers, good selection of Lager, Cider and Ale.

I wanted to say a massive thank you for hosting my son and I in the Studio. I was so impressed by the kindness, efficiency, and professionalism of all the team at Komedia. Everything was perfect – the sound, the room, and all of the staff.

It was honestly the best concert experience I’ve had in a long time! Since being chronically ill, I’ve never felt completely welcome at venues. […] Komedia made me feel completely comfortable and confident in myself during the whole show! […] Although I traveled from London, I will most definitely be returning when I can, choosing it over London venues!

Lovely, intimate venue. Great sound system. Perfect for small concerts.

What a superb venue. I have been several times. Always a warm welcome and a safe space to enjoy the artists that are more “left field” than other more mainstream venues.

Cracking little venue, intimate, great acoustics, friendly staff, middle of town, nice beer selection, fair prices. What more could you want?

Great place to see bands. Not too big . Not too small. Excellent views plus TV screens in all areas. Disabled parking in the street behind. Good eateries locally after gig.

Komedia continues to have club nights that suit all ages. It is a brighton institution that should be revered.
